Being away from all the hustle and bustle you can really unwind here and have a break from it all. It is Ideal to go for days out in York or Harrogate. If you fancy a day at the beach why not drive to the coastal towns of Whitby or Scarborough. The dramatic scenery of the North Yorkshire Moors can be enjoyed aboard the famous steam train which runs from Pickering 13 miles to the ancient fishing port of Whitby. There are many popular seaside resorts along its coastline, including Whitby, Bridlington and Scarborough, as well as quieter villages and working harbours nestled among the rugged cliffs. The North York Moors, the Yorkshire Dales and part of the Peak District National Park offer wonderful opportunities for walkers, cyclists and climbers, as well as nature reserves for bird spotters and naturalists. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway carries more passengers than any other heritage railway in the UK and the National Railway Museum is to be found in the county capital city, York.
